An increase in homeowner complaints about the Sunset and Barrington intersection led the BHA to make inquiries to Metro, DOT and the Council office about possible solutions. The reality is there are just too many cars passing through Brentwood on their way (home) to destinations north and east, and the logjam is exacerbated by the construction at the 405 and Sunset Bridge. In an effort to try and reduce (not eliminate) frustrations, the BHA has suggested and the DOT will implement “Do Not Block The Box” signage at the intersection, and LAPD will periodically enforce the already existing traffic law. At the very least, if effective, the westbound and southbound traffic will be free from the gridlock. In addition, several other solutions will be tested for their effectiveness, including temporary peak hour traffic control officers and a recalibration of the signals to better move cars east.
